Mercia Jay is an entrepreneur and the CEO of 7 Star Thinking Pty Ltd. Her experience and expertise in training dovetails with her passion to work in the medical corporate environment.

The purpose of the training company is focused on the development of young future leaders who are developing their careers within the corporate insurance industry. Training programmes are offered on-line using the latest technology.

Along with the specialized topics we have included soft skills training that the employees are able to integrate into the workplace. An example of this would be critical thinking and self- management are blended into processing medical claims. Blended learning suits our customers the most.

We have accreditation authority to certify people who have completed our NQF levels 1,2 and 3 Basic Life Support, Primary Emergency and Advanced Life Support. 

In the HWSETA (Health and Welfare SETA) our authority lies within Assessment, Facilitation and Moderation Community Health workers and nursing staff. Particularly those who care for the elderly and disabled.   

Why do we do what we do?:   

There are several important reasons as to why we do what we do!

• We have a passion for the upskilling of young ‘up and rising’ managers such as team leaders and first level management including professionals who work at root level
• The shortage of skills within the corporate environment increases risks in many forms and we believe that with our training interventions we can curb many of the risks
• Strong governance exists within the Insurance market (medical claims assessing)
• Errors within the medical claims assessing process count as illegal, criminal and high risk for reputational damage within legal contracts
• Due to the risk to injury and further ill health on the rise in South Africa, the First Aid Training was slotted into 7 Star Thinking products particularly as a community project as we feel that in the light of the South African unsafe environment every citizen should know how to save another’s life
• Skills for Community Health is seen as a gap within the various communities regarding the care of the Elderly and disabled persons. Our interventions support the communities where in the elderly and disabled live
